Many of us have yet to meet someone who does not struggle on some level with something that can lead to a besetting sin if they gave in. Some of the same individuals repeatedly give in despite their desire to abstain from a sinful habit. Those who have, will tell you that after they yielded to temptation the first time, the struggle to resist became increasingly difficult the 2nd time, 3rd and so on. Thus, it makes perfect sense why Jesus thought it necessary to insert the following verse in the prayer model we are told to follow: "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" (Matthew 6:13). Accordingly, not only are we to seek God for forgiveness of sin, but for His intervention for deliverance from evil and temptation. Saved But Bound sheds light on the dangers of yielding to temptation and also provides a biblical road map that leads the way to freedom for those struggling with strongholds and besetting sins.
